Hauled
back at the truck, Max let out a sigh. Indication from Glass showed the traffic
wasn't going anywhere. Estimated time of arrival given at 45 minutes. The day
started off slow. He took another sip of the coffee and put it back to the
tray; he knew he shouldn't have taken the chance to get the coffee when Glass
told him the how congested the morning traffic was. Another minute passed. When
will this be over, Max sighed.
A
message from his wife popped up on the display, reminding he should be home by
7 tonight to prepare for the family dinner which is going to be held at her
mom's place at 8. Before he added it to the To-do list, Glass automatically
marked it on the calendar together with an alarm set for 6:30pm. He looked to
the end of the lane. No movement. Opening up the Map and Traffic function, he
was presented with the community incident reports together with pictures and
descriptions from drivers and pedestrians ahead of him. It seemed like a fatal
car crash involving several vehicles. Another instant update with latest news
pushed up, informing him that the site was being cleared and the traffic would
hopefully be picking up speed again.
Two
mouthful of coffee and it was gone.
His
colleagues called, asking him to look left, so he did and there they were, in the company vehicle, waving and laughing. He gave them
a summary of what was happening in front from the sources composed by other
drivers and pedestrians.
Few
minutes went pass and the line was finally moving, the estimated time dropped
drastically from 50 to 25 minutes.
Cruised
steadily in his White Volkswagen Polo, the radio was playing a song that caught
his attention, he instantly inquired its name from Glass, and the result was
output in audio instead of visual in the car mode (Driving) to minimize the
impact of visual distraction that might cause any accident from happening. He
then uses the voice command again to save the title of the song into his music
collection.
Upon
arriving, the indicator showed the time taken for this drive was around 42
minutes, it was recorded into the 'commuting' record that gave an average of 31
minutes. Parked his car, he was ready to work. Glass was taken away and stored
in a delicate little plastic box a shape of oval, the inside surface was filled
with foam to protect it from potential drop or shaking movement.
At
lunch, Max put it on again while having lunch with his colleagues, he took
pictures of the food, checked up with latest news and information, and used
some of the topics that they would be interested in discussing.
[Thinking about Google Glass or other similar concepts?]
